60th blogpost! Wow I still have a long way to go before 100,but I gotta say I've come a long way since the first few posts last year when I returned to blogger after a 3-year absence. Between then and now was a whole lot of trials, tribulations, breakdowns, challenges and rejoices. I've really been through a lot,far more than I had ever imagined when I first thought about finding my heart's calling in CJC. Obviously things didn't happen as I intended, twice in fact. But now I finally find myself contented, single, free and more optimistic about life than before. Though I still get emo at times, things are already much better than approximately one year ago, when I had my first setback (for JC only,Swiss Cottage still got more stories lol) during the June holidays, the day when I saw somebody's relationship status on Facebook. For me right now, every girl I eye is just gonna be eye candy, and nothing more than that...
Anyway, main course for today's post is still gonna be about one of my 3 best buds birthday celebration. What a great one it was! The day started off normal enough, and nothing happened to him at all for the whole school day. It was only until the last bell rang before the good stuff began. Wee kang was dragged out of the lecture hall, where they used plastic bags to blindfold him and brought him up to the 2nd floor and led him out to where his "twin" was standing. I'm referring to the $150 styrofoam figure the CJC Hockey team paid to make the figure. They had used a photo of him, enlarged it and had it pasted onto the styrofoam. Looked real enough I must say! The hockey team had him kiss his "twin",then asked him to remove his blindfold. He jumped back at the instant he saw what was in front of him! Must have really got a shock la! We then sang a birthday song for him, then pawned him,and the rest was history...
And of course that wasn't all. Clare had arranged for a birthday dinner at fish n co glasshouse, just beside park mall. She had picked some people in class who she knows to be closer to wee kang to come along for the dinner,as well as the hockey people. Unfortunately not all our classmates could go. Abhishek,HQ,Nathanael,HaoLan,Charlotte and Nate all couldn't make it,so we were down to just me,Gary,Kelvin and ShiYong. It was a fab dinner, never eaten fish n co before and now I have a good first impression. And the ambience there was mad awesome, since they have live bands performing there. I have always enjoyed acoustic renders of my favourite songs, regardless of the genre. The bands even did acoustic covers of some pop songs so I was really enjoying the music. Good meal+good music+good company makes it all fantastic!
And oh yes they have a practice for birthday boys/girls at the glasshouse. They are supposed to stand on the chair, wave a sparkler provided by the restaurant, then blow out the candles on their birthday cakes from where they are standing! Haha it was hilarious watching wee kang trying to blow the candles out. It took about 6 tries, but he finally blew all the candles out. =)
Dinner ended at about 10pm. Some people left after that for home, while 10 people (including wee kang and clare) headed off for Robertson's Walk for some chill-out. You probably can already guess what was our intention huh? So we went inside this chill-out bar that Jared recommended. Unfortunately I was a little short on money,so I didn't drink too much. Grr wanted to try some cocktails la... Wee kang ordered 2 sets of 6 shots for us,and I took just one. Thank goodness I only took one, because that shot totally destroyed my impression of shots as small glasses that contains a high percentage of alcohol. It tasted so friggin dilute! It tasted like lemonade tt contained some vodka that was probably poured in through a dropper! I was hoping for like some 'shiok' sensation but none came. The only feeling I had was the little bit of heat as the shot went down my throat. The worst was that the shot was called "kamikaze". -.- If it was kamikaze I might have already gotten woozy after that one shot la! Cost me $6 to drink that crap. Useless sia,I ended up washing my dissatisfaction with some of ShiYong's Stella Artois. Lemme recommend something,if you wanna drink beer, don't take Tiger or Carlsberg because they suck. Take Stella Artois. Price difference isn't too much, and its a heck lot smoother to drink. =D
Took cab home with Nicholas Loo and Adeline Ng since they stay pretty near me. Had to pay the damn midnight charge, but at least the cost was borne by 3 people,so it was pretty cheap. In the end each of us had to pay just $6.30. For midnight charges that is not too bad,and considering that we came home from town. And so the night ends, and the time is 1230am,not extremely late.
So yes,I thoroughly enjoyed myself last night except for my lousy drink. Overall had a great birthday celebration with a good friend and he promised not to suan me for Monday and Tuesday,so somebody please be my witness thanks.
So gonna be doing my alcohol research next time I'm going to drink...
"Triple X" Jackson out.
